Sporty folk should find plenty to keep them busy around here – if you fancy having the run of a 100-acre lake, get in touch with the friendly local boating club (10 minutes’ walk) to sort lessons or freestyle sails. The dogs next to the field bark lets say 60% of the time, so we would not have liked a pitch next to them. The grass needs cutting more often, and then the left over BBq trays would be there to see,and could have been cleared up. There is no one to welcome you, however when we phoned the number (on very poor signage) the lady answered and was helpful. The most worrying thing is that you cannot lock the outside door from the inside, and there is no way of knowing if it is occupied, thereby walking in to men on urinals. If the site was full, these toilet/shower facilities would not cope atall. This situation should be resolved immediatley by introducing another toilet block, and making it seperate for men + women. The toilet facility states only 1 person at once, as they are men and womens combined, but this does not take into account that children have to be accompanied. It is also next to a huge Chicken facility, and we were fortunate in that the wind was blowing the faint odour away fron us. The other half of this ,is that it is next to a very busy road which is noisy until 8pm,and then starts up again around 4.30am. The toilet and shower facilities were clean,if a little unusual.( with a frayed and dirty towel hung up ?) The site was generally good, with water and waste facilities. We liked the location,as it was opposite a beautiful Nature Reserve ,and opposite fishing lakes (although as we were told you need to be a member to fish) This site was really a tale of two halves Nice location good for 1/2 nights stay, but facilities need updating But I appreciate that it is near a lake and stables so inevitable, this wouldn't put me off returning, the dogs, absolutely will. Yes, it was probably only trying to play, but again we had to put him in the van to keep him safe.Īnother small dislike was the amount of flies in the evening. A few moments later, one then jumped up and pushed over our 2 year old. I had to rush to get her and put her into safety in the van. In the morning there were 4 dogs, all from the owners house which is in the next field, all running around freely. We were woken up at around 3am by a large dog which had pulled apart the bin bag of rubbish to look for food. Very basic facilities, but everything you need. Site was nice, with swings for the kids and was very quiet. Basic site, but the unruly dogs rule it out as an option for us.
